Jalan-Jalan di Kuching (Part 2)

Let's continue with Part 2 of Kah Wen and Esther's "adventure" in Kch. Part 2 will cover Day 2 morning of their trip. For the last photo of the Part 1 post (previous post), I brought them to Choon Hui to have our breakfast (my favourite place for morning breakfast if I am not lazy enough to go out for breakfast with family or friends).. heavy breakfast. Haha.. Kuching ppl mostly will eat kolo mee or laksa or kueh chap for breakfast. =D Who can separate Kuchingites with their love for kolo mee and Sarawak laksa. Haha..

Part 2 (2009-09-11 Day 2: Morning)
1
A taste of Sarawak laksa will make up my day.. =P But the prawn play an important role lo.. tat day, tasted a laksa nearby office and the prawns really not fresh.. spoil the whole laksa taste. =P Haha..

2
A bite of kolo mee will make my day even better! Haha.. Kolo mee here, i order with "put red" meaning with bbq pork oil. Yummy.. Haha.. Beside kolo mee, other version is kolo kueh tiaw, kolo bee hon n kolo mee pok.. Haha.. To eat best kolo mee, of course, have it in Kuching. Haha.. few stalls in Kuching tat sell good and best kolo mee according to different taste buds.

3
Sing Lio joined us as we go tour around Kch. First stop is museums.. Kch had 8-10museums... Sarawak Museum, Tun Abdul Razak Museum, Textile Museum, Chinese Museum, Cat Museum, Sarawak Cultural Village (the Living Museum), Police Museum and Timber Museum.. did i miss any? =P But we went to two museums only.. Sarawak Museum n Sarawak Cultural Village. =D

4

5
Told u guys in previous Part 1 post.. Esther's pose mostly cool cool d. Haha.. Behind Sarawak Museum.

6
I had the tendency to slot in one or two B & W photos.. =D

After museum..
7
I brought them to Kch Civic Centre.. Lol! Can see Kch city 360 degree! Haha.. Kch city view but ho.. during their visit, the sky is badly hazed! =/

8
Random group photo at the top of Civic Centre.. notice the haze? Hardly get it with nice view.. =( Haha...

9
Decided to desaturate the photo to suit the haze weather.. =P My house is somewhere near the tall "weird" shaped building.. MBKS. Haha...

10
Another view.. with my secondary school.. n St Joseph church..

11
After Civic Centre, brought them to eat ice kacang.. favourite spot for me n Sing Lio. Haha.. somewhere nearby my house.

12
All time favourite.. jagung peng. Just sirap and canned jagung.. Nice nice! Yummy..

13
Two "lalat"s.. or Baja Hitam. Lol!

14
Rojak with sotong.. chewy sotong. But i prefer rojak sotong with kangkung.. the stall dun open tat day. =? Haha..

After ice kacang, they went to check in hotel and we went for lunch at Fang Yuen. The place always full of ppl.. last time, i went there was 5-6years ago and they only have one shoplot.. now two shoplots and still full house! Haha.. What so special about Fang Yuen?
15
The chicken rice... with curry "soup". The chicken really taste good although slightly expensive as most of Kch's chicken rice is quite cheap with RM1.80 to RM2 per plate due to previous "chicken rice war" when I still in KL. Here, the price is RM5 per plate. Haha.. My guests said tat the chicken rice taste very nice n sedap. Hohoho! But it just personal taste bud.. For me, it taste good and worth another visit (which we still went there for lunch the *following* day.. see the power of the chicken rice?)

16
Another reason is they sell nice BBQ pork too.. sweet n tender.. really melt in our mouth.. eham.. wait a minute.. pork melt?? just kidding.. when took a bite, the feeling is like be in heaven for few minutes. =P Then, it served with preserved cucumber with chillies n vinegar tat depends on the tauke to serve preserved cucumber or fresh cucumbers (my aunt make better preserved cucumber with vinegar) but it also taste nice to me. so *thumbs up* to Fang Yuen! Nice nice!

After lunch, we drove to outskirts of Kch.. want to know where? Wait till Part 3 post.. =P
17
Teaser again! Where did we went.. got tip inside this post oO! Haha.. till the next updates. Take care and I hope tat u guys had enjoy this post.. =D

Jalan-Jalan di Kuching (Part 1)

In the month of September, I had been "tour-guide", driver cum photographer for my guests, Kah Wen and Esther. Me and Sing Lio together host them and bring them around Kuching. Haha.. I will divide our journey into  4parts (15photos each part). Haha.. After posting "Jalan-Jalan di Kuching", i will continue to post about Han Phin and her friend's trip to Kch in October. I just manage to help Sing Lio, Sing Hie and Chai Ping to bring them around and meet with new friends. =D That post.. I will give the title "Night of Lights". Haha..  We also went to Orang Utan sanctuary in Semenggok. So Han Phin and her friend's trip during October will post in two separate posts.

Ok ok.. back to Kah Wen and Esther's adventure in Kch.. actually no much adventure bcos the schedule bit tight as Kah Wen only manage to come for three days two nights. Five days four nights will be a proper timing.. as most of the places to go for nature or beach is outskirt of Kch.. need to drive 1-2hours to the destination. ^^

Part 1 (2009-09-10 Day 1)
Kah Wen and Esther arrived around 9pm in Kuching.. Kah Wen with direct flight from Penang and Esther from Bintulu. As soon as I picked them from airport, I brought them for dinner cum supper.. as they were inside the flight during dinner. ^^ I bring them to "Open Air" food court to try out Sarawak version of beef noodles (known as mee sapi for the halal version).

Just tat day, I brought Kang Hui for supper here too.. but we had beef kueh tiaw. Haha.. taste quite good also to our taste bud. =P Mee habis! Haha..

DSC00338
After supper cum dinner, I brought them to walk along Waterfront. Haha..

DSC00348
They are easy-going n photogenic.. good models. Haha.. in the same time i can practice my portrait skills. =P Btw, all the portrait photos in this post are unedited and taken using 50mm. =D I dun usually do white balancing or use flash if there is natural lighting or street lighting.. whether it is yellowish, orangish or greenish..I will not white-balance it or use flash. ^^ Maybe it is my style.. i want to preserve the feelings tat I want to express during tat moment.

DSC00349
I love the lighting against the orange chairs and table.. this photo also unedited. ^^ =)

DSC00353
A good pose by Esther.. I like her pose.. and a nice background thou the photo bit blur but I still like the photo. I post it bcos I like it.. =D

DSC00355
My guest.. Esther n Kah Wen. =P

DSC00356
I love the blue light reflected on the Sarawak river. Small tiny blue bokehs.. lovely.. Haha...

DSC00358
I just love take photos of them..photogenic and easy-going.. and the background of tiny colourful bokehs.. Haha..

DSC00360
This is the house of our Sarawak TYT.. Astana. Haha.. taken without tripod n no editing done. ^^ But night scenery is the best with tripod, smaller aperture and slow shutter speed (learnt from my friends).

DSC00369
Esther is very photogenic but mostly cool pose. =P

DSC00371
The Square Fort.. Creepy window.. =P Wait till the post "Night of Lights". =D

DSC00377
This photo also unedited.. I just adjust her position then step back.. step back.. snap. Haha.. I like playing with shadows n lighting.. Haha..

DSC00388
This one is edited slightly to cover the little disturbance of buildings (far away) surrounding the Square Fort. Haha.. sometimes a minor adjustment can help a lot to present the photo even better although the original one is still the best n valuable. Wink~!

After a night walk, we met up with Sing Lio and Albert. Haha.. then rest n sleep.
DSC00397
See.. I am a responsible "tourist guide". Esther request for a schedule.. I design n edit a schedule for her.. properly plan (although we didn't follow 40% of the schedule. =P) Haha...

I shall end this post with this last photo..
DSC00404
Teaser for Part 2! Hahaha! Breakfast at where? =P

Lincoln

Before I blog about Kah Wen and Esther's adventure in Kch, I decided to post about Lincoln. Haha.. My sifu's son.. The first 4photos were taken around June and the remaining 6photos are taken in August during Kch festival month.

Lincoln is the first model tat I take photos with.. then I had the chance to take other friends' photos. Portrait surely is quite challenging to me and my model is a child.. Hmmm.. but I went to take sifu's baby daughter photos yesterday. It is even more challenging.. Haha.. bcos the reactions are spontaneous.. and we can't impossibly ask a baby to pose. =P I decided to post this 10photos.. (the best portraits of Lincoln tat I taken in my opinion) after asking permission from my sifu to post them. =D

2009-08-06 Pulau Ketam (Part 3: Black & White)

Today's update will be the last part of Pulau Ketam trip photos. Next update will be photos from Kuching. =P Haha.. I had fallen in love.. fallen in love with black and white photos. Although black and white lack of the colours but it still produce intense feelings. Mind the quallity of the first 3photos as I shoot from slightly brownish and full of "scars" windows of the speedboat tat carried us to the Pulau Ketam's jetty. ^^
